What is PPF?

Paint Protection Film (PPF) is a thermoplastic urethane film applied to painted surfaces of automobiles in order to protect the paint from stone chips, bug splatters, and minor abrasions.

What are the benefits of pre-cut PPF?

The major brands of PPF include software that essentially produces a PPF template for each panel that needs to be wrapped. The PPF roll is fed into a plotter and the resultant panels are ready to be applied to the car.

The benefit of pre-cut is that there are no blades or knives taken to a car, which in turn prevents any accidental cuts to the car’s original paintwork.

Which brand of PPF do we use?

We are officially certified installers of XPEL.
The specific XPEL PPF we are applying is XPEL Ultimate Plus (gloss finish) & XPEL Stealth (satin finish) which we offer Approved lifetime warranty on.

How long does the Paint Protection Film process take?

The full PPF process takes around 5-6 working days. This includes preparing the car, paint correction, PPF application, curing, and final inspection.

How do I wash my car after Paint Protection Film application?

Although any soap is fine to wash your car with, we would recommend hand wash only with clean microfiber clothes. Washing your car in an automatic car wash or ‘waterless’ washing could result in your car being cleaned with dirty cloths, therefore causing damage to the PPF and its self-healing layer.

We are more than happy to demonstrate correct washing methods when you visit our facility!

Is there any maintenance or servicing needed for my Paint Protection Film?

We ask our clients to come back after 1 month for a check-up after PPF application to check curing has properly taken place. After this time, there is no need for a yearly check-up/maintenance, but if you have any concerns with your PPF, we are always happy to assist.

Can you apply a ceramic coating to Paint Protection Film?

Yes! In fact, most of our clients opt for this as it really helps give a hydrophobic effect for easier cleaning. We also offer ceramic coating for the interior, glass, rims and direct application to the paint.

Does using a premium brand PPF result in a quality final product?

In short, the answer is: NO.

A high-quality final product is the result of several input variables:

• The quality of the paint preparation stage, which can be further broken down into time spent on paint preparation and the experience of the detailing team.
• The quality and experience of the installation team. Good experienced PPF installers are in scarce supply globally and are the most important variable in the quality equation.
• The quality of the facility. PPF needs to be applied under ideal controlled temperatures in a clinically clean environment, i.e., free of any dust particles that could settle on a prepared paint surface whilst installing PPF.

At Approved Detailing our facility is purpose built, hermetically sealed to keep the air as clean as possible and any water used whilst washing the cars in our facility is actually purer than drinking water thanks to our filtration system! As for our team, they have combined many decades of experience when it comes to application to ensure flawless results.

Do you offer Window Tint?

Yes, we are using XPEL Prime XR+ Ceramic Window Tint that has lifetime warranty, all shades are over 94% heat rejecting, 99% UV protection and like our PPF is also pre-cut – so no need for cutting on your glass.

Do you offer colour change wrapping?

Yes, we offer both coloured PPF and traditional vinyl plus our in-house team are capable to create bespoke designs such as livery and dreamlines. Please get in touch for further details.

Does PPF turn “yellow” over a period of time?

Most—if not all—PPF manufacturers guarantee their product against ‘yellowing.’ Although infrequent, we have witnessed some discolouring, especially noticeable on white paint. This has occurred in Dubai and is probably a function of the intense year-round heat and the storing/washing conditions the car is subjected to.
